Environmental Measurements
The Environmental Measurement Unit of the Laboratory of Steam Boilers and Thermal Plants undertakes activities in the sectors of environmental measurements and instrument calibration.
The Laboratory is accredited by the Hellenic Accreditation System (E.SY.D.AE) according to the European Standard ΕΝ ISO/IEC 17025:2005 including all additional requirements as specified within the European standard ΕΛΟΤ CEN/TS 15675:2008 in the field of environmental testing by the
No 648 accreditation certificate and on the following subject fields:
- Isokinetic sampling and determination of mass concentration of particulate matter.
- Sampling and determination of emissions of PM10 and PM2.5 particles.
- Determination of water vapor in ducts.
- Sampling and determination of the concentration for O2, CO2, CO, SO2, NOx and N2O.
- Sampling and determination of the mass concentration Total Organic Carbon (TOC) with flame ionization detector (FID).
- Sampling for the determination of PCDDs/PCDFs and like dioxin PCBs.
- Sampling for the determination of As, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Ti και V.
- Sampling for the determination of total Hg.
State of the art equipment for measurements on the customers premises is used according to European, American and International standards. On measurements requiring laboratory analysis of samples, LSBTP is in close collaboration with laboratories, accredited with the EN ISO 17025:2005. In addition it is possible to use calibration with standardized gases with a traceability under the international standards as well as the application of standardized calibration methods (Standard Reference Method). In this manner, the operational control and the calibration of the equipment or customer’s instruments is achieved along with the issue of certificates and the use of standardised calibration methods.
The laboratory maintains the appropriate equipment for the provided services. Specifically, regarding the services of the Laboratory in the frame of the Service Providing Laboratory Unit, concerning combustion systems control through environmental measurements of stationary source air pollutants the following equipment is being used:
